After launch, Screener drove a 42% increase in retention, with the filtering functionality consistently praised by Enterprise customers

Diving deep into the complexity of filter conditions

Easy searching and finding

To keep browsing the large data catalog manageable, I created multiple ways to search — via category tabs, quick select popular metrics, and autocomplete suggestions when you type.

Care in the (keyboard shortcut) details

A detail struck me while speaking with an ex-banker. "If Bloomberg were to change the keyboard shortcuts, I would be totally at a loss" I realized how power users rely on keyboard shortcuts and made sure they were industry standard.

Crafting individual states

I took special care to refine the filter chips to improve their affordances, making it clearer that each section of the chip is interactive and clickable. Since the interactions are a keyboard-first experience, adding transition animations improved the usability of editing.
